Boko Haram Seizes Adamawa LG Office

No fewer than three persons were killed when members of the militant Islamic group, Boko Haram, attacked Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

SUNDAY PUNCH gathered the insurgents, who were heavily armed, invaded the secretariat of the local government in the early hours of Saturday, dislodging Nigerian soldiers who were guarding the premises and surrounding areas.

The incident is coming hours after some members of the sect attacked the Training Liman Kara Police College, near Gwoza community, Borno State. More than 100 trainee police men were said to be still missing.

The insurgents were said to have arrived at the local government headquarters led by armoured vehicles they had earlier seized from Nigerian troops in the Gwoza attack earlier.

The Executive Director of Stefanos Foundation. Mr. Mark Lipdo, told our correspondent that among the facilities burnt down by the insurgents were the Government Secondary School, Madagali and the EYN Church Madagali.

He said the insurgents entered the town at about 7:25 am, bombarding the town repeatedly with shoulder-bearing rocket-propelled grenades and anti-aircraft mortar guns mounted on pickup vans.

The militants were also said to have promptly hoisted their flag and seized the administrative headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area.
