For unlawfully suspending indefinitely and terminating his employment, a
former employee of First Bank Nigeria Limited, Mr. Tennyson Ikpi has
sued the bank for N100 billion. It was gathered that, Mr. Tennyson Ikpi,
because of his vast experience and track record in the banking sector,
received an offer letter from the First Bank of Nigeria, in August 2012,
prompting him to resign his appointment as a branch manager of Keystone
bank.
According to the suit, filed by Festus Keyamo Chambers on
behalf of its client, Mr. Ikpi received a letter of suspension from
First Bank of Nigeria Ltd on ground of an unfounded allegation against
him on the pages of some Newspapers by an individual who had a personal
acrimony with him over a court case. First Bank of Nigeria terminated
his employment, a decision he strongly believes violates his
constitutional right to fair hearing.
